The Witch and the Warrior is a great, old-school style role-playing game that has a lot of fun elements in it. You play as a young witch who has had a pretty tough upbringing in a world that is still recovering from a war between those who can use magic and those who do not.
Gwendolyn MacSween has spent her whole life in the backward thinking village of Vester being ostracized and ridiculed by those around her because she is a witch. She is on her way to be burned at the stake when a Laird, 'Mad' Alex MacDunn, steals her from the pyre and takes her with him to his clan and lands. He tells her that he wants to use her powers to cure his sick son. Gwendolyn agrees to do this though she is not a healer nor does she believe in her own abilities.
Once at the Witching College in Marenthia things begin to go awry with students starting to disappear and odd happenings all around. It is up to Ember and her friends to figure out what's going on before it is too late.
The Witch and the Warrior has a really fun story and some very nice characters in it. They are all well-written, often funny and just generally fun to spend time with. There are also some very good looking backgrounds and the combat is turn based which makes it easy to learn and fun to play. There is a decent range of weapons and spells to choose from too.
